Steps to apply for a Visa and Student Pass to Study in Brunei Darussalam

The Office of International Affairs at JCHS is responsible for managing the processing of Student Visa applications. International students are required to complete an application form that can be obtained from the Acceptance Letter or at the following link:

The following steps outline the process:

Application Form for Student Visa

Complete the Application Form for New/Renewal to Study in Brunei Darussalam issued by the Department of Schools, Ministry of Education.

There are two types of student Visa:

Dependent Visa/Pass

  • The Dependent Visa is intended for individuals under the age of 18 who are under the guardianship of their parents or legal guardians.
  • In this case, the parents or guardians act as sponsors for the student’s visa application.
  • The parent or guardian will be responsible for managing the entire application process, including submitting the required documents directly to the Department of Schools.

Independent Visa/Pass

  • The Independent Visa is applicable to students aged 18 and above.
  • Under this arrangement, JPMC College of Health Sciences Sdn Bhd provides sponsorship by allowing students to use the institution’s name for the purpose of applying for a student visa.
  • It is important to note that all financial obligations, including tuition fees, registration fees, and payments to government authorities, remain the sole responsibility of the student.
  • The Office of International Affairs will support by submitting the completed application form and supporting documents to the Department of Schools, Ministry of Education on the student’s behalf. 

Required Documents for independent Visa/Pass:

  • Completed Form 10 (Student Visa Application)
  • Completed Visa Application Form
  • Photocopy of Applicant’s Passport (showing photograph, personal particulars, and latest visa stamp)
  • Photocopy of Applicant’s Birth Certificate
  • Photocopy of Acceptance Letter
  • Recent Bank Statement (3 months)
  • Medical Certificate confirming fitness to study in Brunei
  • Police Clearance from the country of origin
  • Evidence of accommodation in Brunei (e.g., hostel reservation or rental address)
  • International Vaccination Certificate
  • Payment for Security Deposit
  • Payment for Multiple Entry (if applicable) *
  • Student Insurance with medical expense coverage minimum of $5000

Visa Approval

Upon approval, the Department of Schools will issue three official letters : one for the applicant, one for JCHS, and one for the Department of Immigration & National Registration (Immigration Department).

Visa Application

Submit a copy of the official approval letter to the Immigration Department, along with the completed Student Visa application forms. The Immigration Department will process the application and issue the Student Visa.

 Security Deposit for Department of Immigration

A security deposit is required for the collection of the Visa Approval Letter. This deposit will be refunded upon the completion of studies and the cancellation of the Student Visa.

Multiple Entry Visa

This Visa is typically used for individuals who are looking to make repeated journeys in and out of the country and is recommended for ease of travel in the future.

Document Handover

JCHS International Affairs will provide the student with a soft copy of the Student Visa prior to their arrival in Brunei Darussalam.

Arrival Procedures

Students are required to submit their passports to the International Affairs Office at JCHS for endorsement and to apply for a multiple-entry visa. Once the endorsement and visa application process are completed, the passport will be returned to the student.

Visa Extension

Any required visa extensions will be processed accordingly.

Student Visa Processing Duration

The processing time will take a minimum of three (3) weeks, which includes the endorsement process and the application for multiple entries.
