On 23rd August 2025, JPMC College of Health Sciences hosted the Orientation to Mental Health Program, aimed at preparing students for the realities of their upcoming clinical placements. The session was led by Hjh Radiah Omar, Head of Psychiatric Nursing Services from the Psychiatric Services, Ministry of Health.
Hjh Radiah emphasized deepening students’ understanding of mental illness while highlighting the importance of self-care strategies to manage the emotional demands of clinical practice. She also introduced key information on hospital policies, cultural sensitivity, and available support services, ensuring both students’ personal well-being and client safety.
By proactively addressing potential challenges, the orientation helped alleviate anxiety and build confidence among participants. Students concluded the program with enhanced readiness to navigate the clinical environment, equipped to embrace learning opportunities and provide safe, compassionate care.
