On 15 May 2026, JPMC College of Health Sciences (JCHS) proudly celebrated the international achievement of its Dean, Dr. Rachelle Sarmiento, who was invited to speak alongside 16 distinguished experts from around the world at an international educational forum. Her presentation, titled “Teaching Beyond Reality in the Metaverse,” highlighted the evolving role of emerging technologies in transforming education.
During her presentation, Dr. Sarmiento explored how technologies such as Augmented Reality (AR), Virtual Reality (VR), Extended Reality (XR), Artificial Intelligence (AI), and other digital innovations are reshaping teaching and learning by creating immersive, interactive, and connected educational experiences. She emphasised the potential of these technologies to bridge geographical barriers and reimagine classrooms beyond traditional physical spaces.
While showcasing the opportunities presented by digital innovation, Dr. Sarmiento also underscored the importance of maintaining a balanced and ethical approach to technology in education. She reminded educators that, despite the rapid advancement of virtual learning environments, meaningful human connection remains at the heart of quality education and student development.
