WRP Seminar Highlights Diverse Career Pathways in Nursing

On 8 May 2026, JPMC College of Health Sciences (JCHS) successfully organised the Whole Person Development (WRP) seminar, “Borderless Opportunities: Exploring the Different Career Pathways in Nursing,” endorsed by the Office of Student Affairs and Services (OSAS) as the official WRP activity. The seminar provided students with valuable insights into the wide range of career opportunities available within the nursing profession beyond traditional clinical practice.

The event featured a panel of distinguished speakers who shared their professional experiences and perspectives on the diverse pathways that nursing can offer. Guest speakers included SSGT Haji Najib bin Haji Ibrahim, Senior Instructor, Medical Training Wing, RBLF Medical Services; LT. Dr. Wan Nurul Naszeerah, Defence Health Unit Officer, Medical Services Headquarters and Acting Training Officer, Medical Training Wing, RBLF Medical Services; Hjh Armah bte Tengah, Acting Assistant Director (Principal) and Special Grade Education Officer, Politeknik Brunei; and Ms. Nina Keehan, Acting Public Affairs Officer at the United States Embassy in Brunei Darussalam.

Through engaging presentations and real-life experiences, students explored career opportunities in military nursing, nursing education, and international nursing pathways, including opportunities in the United States. The seminar encouraged participants to broaden their understanding of the profession and inspired them to consider the many ways nurses can contribute across different sectors and communities.

The session also reinforced the importance of lifelong learning, adaptability, and professional growth, highlighting that a nursing qualification can open doors to a variety of rewarding careers both locally and internationally.
